The art-house classic, Chelsea Girls follows various residents of the Chelsea Hotel in 1966 New York City. The film consists of twelve reels of unedited conversations and monologues with Warhol’s ‘superstars’. It is presented in a split screen with a single audio track in conjunction with one side of screen. Many of Warhol’s films were experimental and aimed to push the boundaries of cinema. Chelsea Girls was one such films that successfully made it into the mainstream. Book via Warhol Croydon.

Warhol's strange and disturbing interpretation of "A Clockwork Orange" presents a man undergoing a torturous "rehabilitation" designed to cure his violent streak. It is exemplary of Warhol’s work in its preoccupation with pornography and violence and includes the familiar cast of Factory regulars, such as Gerard Malanga, Edie Sedgwick and Ondine. The soundtrack includes Martha and the Vandellas, The Kinks, The Rolling Stones, and the The Isley Brothers. Book via Warhol Croydon.

Where do you go after you die? While many go to another realm, M (Affleck) returns to his old house, to watch over his grieving partner C (Mara) – and, after she moves on, a sequence of other inhabitants. Lowry’s audacious idea, that the ghost – unseen but not entirely unnoticed by mortal souls – should be portrayed by Affleck under a seemingly simple white sheet, is a great success. This spirit is a melancholy presence at the heart of a beautifully-shot, poignant and sometimes funny study of loss and the nature of a home. Full details. Halloween double bill at discount cost.
