We are looking for a proactive, reliable, flexible person to manage the small arts bar at the cinema. A job share arrangement can also be considered. The bar is staffed by volunteers, and is normally open Tuesday and Thursday evenings, for an hour before screenings (6.30 – 7.30pm). However, we would like to recruit and train more volunteers so that we can open the bar before all our screenings (3 or 4 a week, including some daytimes).
The bar currently sells hot and cold drinks and a small range of snacks. However, we have recently been licenced to sell alcoholic drinks and plan to start selling wine and beer shortly. We would like what we sell to be reviewed and improved.
The volunteer co-ordinators currently draw up a schedule of volunteer duties every month, and it is intended that this will continue. We would not expect the manager to take on this task.
The main tasks of the bar manager would be:
- To work at the bar about twice a month
- To recruit and train volunteer staff, with the help of the volunteer co-ordinators
- To track stock levels and buy (or arrange to be bought) fresh supplies
- To review the stock and management of the bar, and suggest innovations and improvements
