When three elderly ladies are told they are to be split up after living together for years in a care home, they escape and end up on an Irish island. After MacDonagh (Stanley Holloway), the owner, disappears, the trio take over his three abandoned cottages and help the locals set up a cottage industry knitting sweaters. But when MacDonagh reappears, the women have to think on their feet. This charming comedy features Richard Harris in his first film role.
