Cafe Society (2016, USA) cert. 12A – subtitled for people with a hearing loss
Tuesday 18 October 2016 at 2:30 pm - 4:15 pm
Director: Woody Allen
Stars: Jesse Eisenberg, Kristen Stewart, Steve Carell, Blake Lively
Woody Allen’s latest picture captures the zeitgeist of the 1930s and centers on Bobby Dorfman (Eisenberg), a Bronx-born young hopeful trying to make it in the movie industry. Travelling to Hollywood, he becomes enamoured of Vonnie (Stewart), secretary to his uncle (Carell).
But it does not work out and he returns to New York, finding new love in the vibrant world of high society nightclub life – not to mention Veronica (Lively), an enchanting divorcee.
Eisenberg is ideally cast in the lead while Lively is enthralling and Carell hilarious in this romantic comedy-drama.
