Chevalier (2015, Greece) 105 mins, cert. 18, subtitled
Tuesday 30 August 2016 at 7:30 pm - 9:20 pm
Director: Athina Rachel Tsangari
Stars: Panos Koronis, Efthymis Papadimitriou, Giorgos Pyrpassopoulos, Sakis Rouvas
A diverse group of men sailing on a luxury yacht in the Aegean spend their days diving for fish. To stave off boredom, they spend their evenings taking part in increasingly strange competitions to see who can win the coveted ‘Chevalier’ gold signet ring.
Winner of Best Film at the London Film Festival 2015, directed by Athina Rachel Tsangari and co-written by Efthymis Filippou (whose Lobster was a surprise hit with the David Lean audience), Chevalier is an interesting, unconventional and amusing look at male bonding.
This Review from the New York Times, here also includes a link to the english sub-title Trailer. I’ve linked to the NYT rather than the more wordy (and worthy) review in Variety as the latter’s website seems slow to load.
while that english sub-title Trailer can also be seen below…..
