This mystery-thriller-drama is based on Paula Hawkins’ best-selling novel, transplanted to upstate New York.
Recently divorced Rachel (Blunt) – ‘the girl on the train’ – commutes daily past her old house where her ex lives with his new wife (Ferguson). She also observes – and fantasises about – the seemingly perfect couple she sees from the train living close to her former house.
But as her train passes by one morning, she observes something disturbing that fills her with rage.
As the plot develops it emerges that Rachel has problems and is not the most reliable witness – or person.
Nevertheless she becomes entangled in a missing persons case that promises to change the lives of everyone involved.
