Rolling TV news announces the kidnapping of a young boy…
– yet he has actually been rescued by his father (Shannon) from a religious cult who believe that he is the key to a rapture-like event.
As the boy’s extraordinary powers become increasingly evident, his family battle to keep him out of the clutches of both the cult and the FBI.
Shannon gives a typically intense performance, while Dunst and Edgerton are movingly driven by maternal love and loyalty in this “darkly addictive mystery” (Telegraph).
