You give us your personal information when you buy a ticket in person, on the phone or online. You also provide information when you sign up to our mailing or email list, make a donation or communicate with us.

We may store personal information you provide, including your name, address, telephone number and email address. We may also keep a record of your purchases and donations.

We may keep a record of communications we send you and how you interact with them, such as whether you receive or open emails, which links you click and whether you subsequently make a purchase online.

We do not usually collect this type of information about our patrons unless there is a clear reason for doing so.

Communication about events you are attending

We will contact you by email or telephone with essential information relating to any event you have purchased tickets for, such as cancellations, timings, changes or rescheduling. We may also contact you to collect feedback following an event.

If you do not provide your personal information when purchasing a ticket, we may not be able to contact you about changes to your booking.

If we run an event in partnership with another named organisation, your details may need to be shared with them where necessary to help us deliver the event.

Marketing communications

We want to keep you informed about our films, activities and fundraising in a way that is relevant and useful.

We use information we hold about you, such as your contact details, previous purchases and preferences, to help us provide communications that are appropriate to you.

Debit and credit card information

If you use a credit or debit card to purchase tickets or make a donation at the Box Office or over the telephone, we ensure that this is handled securely and in accordance with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI-DSS).

We do not store card details after a transaction is complete and do not keep credit card records.

Photography and filming

From time to time, we may take photographs or record events and activities at the David Lean Cinema. These may be used to promote our work, document our activities and report to supporters and funders.

Images and recordings are stored securely. Where photography or filming is taking place, we will provide clear signage. If you would prefer not to be included, please speak to the photographer or a member of the team.

The venue owners, Croydon Council, operate a CCTV system for the safety and security of visitors, staff, property and buildings. Requests for access to CCTV footage should be made directly to the Council.
