We collaborated with Croydon Pride this summer to bring you a selection of powerful LGBTQ+ stories and events.
For Pride Month in June, we showed the films Fairyland and Enzo, which look at identity and belonging.
Then, in August when Croydon Pride’s official event takes place, we brough Croydon’s beloved All of Us Strangers back to the big screen for a very special Q&A with local lad, author and social historian, John Grindrod who discussed his latest book, Tales of the Suburbs: LGBTQ+ Lives Behind Net Curtains.
We also screened the powerful documentary Come See Me in the Good Light in collaboration with Apple. The documentary follows the lives of couple Andrea and Megan as they deal with Andrea’s terminal cancer diagnosis. This screening was followed by a Q&A with Mia Bays, Director of BFI Filmmaking Fund, who discussed the power of cinema in allowing us to access important stories.
Croydonist interviewed Sam Clark, our Chair, for our Pride event. Read the full story here.
Thanks to Croydon Pride for working with us to deliver a selection of films and events to the community, and for helping us to remind people that cinema is for everyone.
