We screened the powerful documentary Come See Me in the Good Light about poet lovers Megan and Andrea, and how the pair face Andrea’s terminal cancer diagnosis.
For this screening, delivered in partnership with Croydon Pride, we were joined by Mia Bays, Director of BFI Filmmaking Fund.
Mia took the time to take part in a Q&A post-film with our patron, Joanna Scanlan, where the pair discussed the powerful of filmmaking in telling stories that can often feel uncomfortable and raw.
Mia said, “It’s a reminder of how important the cinematic experience is. It can teach us things. It’s profound. A documentary crew becomes part of the fabric of the story; they’re living in that real moment with the subject.”
Mia’s work with the BFI has helped to deliver some of the greatest cinema in recent years, including the powerful drama Ish and the knockout Irish-language film Kneecap.
