In 2022, as part of their Routes to Roots: A South Asian Heritage project, Maya Productions conducted interviews with Anglo-Indians based in the Croydon area, which were later recorded in the film 1960s Croydon. Their artistic director Suzanne Gorman followed this up with a film reflecting her own family’s experiences, especially in the field of music, in The Story of the Madras Jazz Group.

We will be screening both films, after which Suzanne, Natalie, jazz musician Mike Gorman, and members of our Croydon Routes to Roots group will discuss the lives of Anglo-Indians who travelled to this country in the post-war years.
