Siblings Sandy and Isla live alone on a remote Orkney isle, following strict rules left by their missing parents. They hunt seabirds, share ancestral stories and talk to mythical creatures, while keeping a wary eye for “incomers”. Their isolated way of life is disrupted when Daniel, a meek and socially awkward council official, arrives with eviction orders to relocate them to the mainland. As Daniel becomes part of their strange little isle they must eventually face the truth that the outside world can’t be kept at bay forever, no matter how much they wish it could.
Followed by a Q&A with Joanna Scanlan and Mia Bays
Mia is the outgoing director of BFI filmmaking fund, and executive producer of the film, The Incomer.
