LAST CHRISTMAS
Thursday 19 December 2019 at 2.30pm (Subtitled)

Emilia Clarke, Henry Golding, Emma Thompson

Bridesmaids director Paul Fieg returns with another comedy, this time with a festive twist. Emilia Clarke stars as cynical Kate, splitting her time between binge drinking and working as an elf in a Christmas shop. However, when she meets eccentric man Tom, he begins to break down the barriers she has built around herself. With a cheerful Christmas backdrop, this romantic comedy has a cosy feelgood factor.

2019 | Dir Paul Feig | 103min | USA

Emma Thompson talks about “her sadness that the singer-songwriter George Michael never got to see the feature film on which they had been collaborating” in The Telegraph.

The programme will also include our current BRIT School Showcase film Liberté (PG, 4 min). This Year 13 film is directed by Dora Paphides and takes inspiration from World Cinema.

A SIMPLE FAVOUR (15) – 2018 USA 117 min

Director: Paul Feig
Stars: Anna Kendrick, Blake Lively, Henry Golding

Single mother and vlogger Stephanie (Kendrick) is befriended by successful business woman Emily (Lively), and begins hanging out with her, as well as baby-sitting for her. She starts to worry when Emily disappears, having failed to pick up her son, and starts her own investigation. As you would expect from the director of Bridesmaids and the Ghostbusters reboot, Feig brings a fine comedy touch to this post-modern film noir, with terrific performances from the two leads.
