Director: Michel Hazanavicius
Stars: Louis Garrel, Stacy Martin, Bérénice Bejo
As 1967 and 1968 unfold, ‘les evenements’ bring a general strike and riots to the streets of Paris, while revolution is debated at the Sorbonne. Newly-wed film director Jean-Luc Godard supports the students and workers – which means renouncing his previously feted movies, and embracing radical new ways of film making. Somewhere along the way, his good humour turns to dogmatic sourness, and domestic tensions rise – but Hazanavicius (The Artist) and his sparkling cast make this tragicomedy a spritely summer pleasure throughout!

Director: Joachim Lafosse
Stars: Bérénice Bejo, Cédric Kahn, Marthe Keller
Boris and Marie are devoted parents of young twin daughters, living neither together nor apart as they try to negotiate a grown-up separation.
At times they share their apartment and family duties peacefully; at other times, the differences which have driven them apart, and the financial stalemate which binds them together (the original title is “L’Economie du Couple”, I’ll let you do your own translation) seem insurmountable.
Lafosse’s sensitive chamber drama paints a finely observed portrait of two flawed, decent people, with a luminous, utterly convincing performance from Bejo (The Artist) as Marie.
