Extra screening No. 3!
Possibly a first for DavidLeanCinema – arranging for a 5th screening to meet demand before we have even run the first show!
Director: Damien Chazelle
Stars: Ryan Gosling, Emma Stone, Rosemarie DeWitt, J.K. Simmons
Through chance meetings in: an LA traffic jam; a restaurant; and then at a party, budding film actress Mia and jazz pianist Seb seem destined to fall in love.
But can their relationship survive the strains of their burgeoning professional success?
With Stone and Gosling proving to be charming singers, and Hollywood providing a wonderful backdrop, Whiplash director Chazelle has crafted “a sun-drenched musical masterpiece” (The Guardian) in one of the most eagerly-awaited and awards-tipped films of the year.
Here are links to that effusive Review from The Guardian and an equally enthusiastic and even more wordy “how and why and what does it mean” piece from Variety.
The Guardian review includes a short, dialogue-free trailer, the Variety synopsis links to other items on the film.
