A COMPLETE UNKNOWN (2024)
Wednesday 26 March 2025 at 7.00pm

2024 | Dir James Mangold | 140m | USA
Stars: Timothée Chalamet, Edward Norton, Elle Fanning

Based on Elijah Ward’s 2015 book Dylan Goes Electric!, A Complete Unknown offers a captivating insight into Bob Dylan’s rise to fame, starting with his 1961 arrival in New York. James Mangold vividly depicts an extraordinary era, including key contemporaries Woody Guthrie, Joan Baez and Johnny Cash. As the American folk revival peaked, we discover why Dylan’s desire to ‘go electric’ at the 1965 Newport Folk Festival was so contentious. With outstanding performances from Timothée Chalamet as Bob Dylan and Edward Norton as his mentor Pete Seeger, this is “one of the most convincing interpretations of a musician ever” (Radio Times). Nominated for eight Academy Awards.
