As the son of a small-town pastor, Jarod has a particularly hard time when he is outed to his parents. Pressured to undergo gay conversion therapy, he rebels against the programme and discovers his own voice. Manchester by the Sea and Lady Bird co-star Hedges shines in the lead role, while Kidman and Crowe bring great depth as the parents forced to weigh deeply held beliefs against their love for their son.
The programme will include our current BRIT School Showcase film Peace And Quiet (U) directed by George Hadley.

In the aftermath of an apocalyptic plague-like outbreak, a family survive by taking every precaution against outside menaces. When they reluctantly allow another family into their remote woodland home, the tensions soon mount.
Providing an intense, gripping conclusion to our Halloween double bill, this character-driven thriller is “a horribly plausible future vision” (Empire magazine).

Stars: Ruth Negga, Joel Edgerton, Will Dalton
The affecting story of real life couple Richard and Mildred Loving (left and below), whose interracial relationship forced them to cross the state line in order to marry in the late 1950s. They then defied anti-miscegenation laws by moving back to their home State as man and wife.
Smitten with his pregnant girlfriend but debarred from marrying in their home state of Virginia by it’s Racial Integrity Act of 1924, Richard and Mildred travel to Washington DC to tie the knot.
The couple plan their lives together, hoping to reside peacefully in their self-built home in Virginia, yet these hopes are threatened when their union is aggressively opposed by the State.
An understated dramatisation of the Loving family’s story and their legal challenge to win the right to return ‘home’, which changed US law, with moving performances from Edgerton and Negga.
