Ren (Kevin Bacon) is a typical teenager who loves rock music and dancing. Forced with his mother to move from Chicago to a small town in Utah, he soon discovers that the two things he loves are prohibited within the town boundary! Having fallen for Ariel (Lori Singer), the daughter of the local preacher who instigated the ban, he sets out to have it lifted. One of the box office hits of its day, both its title song and Let’s Hear It for the Boy were Oscar-nominated.
