COTTONTAIL

2023 | Dir Patrick Dickinson | 94m | UK | Japan
Stars: Lily Franky, Ryô Nishikido, Ciarán Hinds

After his wife Akiko dies, Kenzaburo, who has not been a great success as a writer, husband or father, is given a letter from her asking him, along with his son Toshi and family, to travel to England and scatter her ashes on Lake Windermere. When his stubbornness separates him from Toshi and the others, it takes the kindness of a widowed farmer and his daughter to get him back on track. Cottontail is a touching and delicate film about love, regret and the need to sustain family bonds, with a telling performance as Kenzaburo from Shoplifters star Lily Franky.
