Palestinian-Danish director Mahdi Fleifel’s debut feature tells the story of Chatila and Reda, two refugee cousins stuck in Athens, after fleeing detainment in Lebanon. Reda’s drug addiction leaves the pair’s finances drained, leaving Chatila to devise an elaborate, dangerous plan to secure their passage to Germany. Garnering comparisons to classics like Midnight Cowboy and The Bicycle Thieves, To a Land Unknown was a film festival favourite last year, and we’re excited to be bringing this acclaimed thriller to the David Lean Cinema this March.
