Picture from the film.After the end of her Hollywood career, Oscar-winning actress Gloria Grahame (Bening) switched to the London stage and began a passionate affair with Peter Turner (Bell), a young Liverpudlian. The relationship eventually ended, but some years later after collapsing in a Lancaster hotel, Gloria contacted Peter again and asked him and his family to help her recover.
