AMAZING GRACE

 AMAZING GRACE
Tuesday 9 July 2019 at 11.00am.

Aretha Franklin, Reverend James Cleveland, C.L. Franklin

In January 1972, Aretha Franklin appeared at the New Bethel Baptist Church to record two performances for a live album of gospel songs with an accompanying documentary. The film, for a number of reasons, was never released…until now. Amazing Grace invites film and music fans alike to witness the fervour and emotion Aretha channels – true to form – in this uplifting performance piece that certainly proves to be more than worth the wait. Capturing Franklin’s raw brilliance and prodigious power, Amazing Grace is transcendent in every way.

2018 | Dir Alan Elliott, Sydney Pollack | 89min | USA

“Amazing Grace is, without a doubt, one of the finest music documentaries ever” – Jordan Hoffman, The Guardian
