THE OUTRUN

2024 | Dir Nora Fingscheidt | 118m | UK | Germany

Rona (Saoirse Ronan) returns to her hometown in the Orkney Islands after completing rehab, unsure of her next steps as she rebuilds her life in sobriety. Based on Amy Liptrot’s memoirs, The Outrun follows Rona’s struggle to stay sober while living with her parents and searching for work and meaning. Through flashbacks, the film vividly portrays the chaos of her addiction—broken relationships, dangerous blackouts, and assault—offering a raw look at the isolation of both addiction and recovery.

The evening screening is subtitled for those with hearing loss.

Director: Joe Wright
Stars: Gary Oldman, Kristin Scott Thomas, Lily James, Stephen Dillane

Picture from film. It’s World War II, and Britain faces its darkest hour as the threat of invasion looms. The fate of Western Europe now hangs on the leadership of the newly-appointed British Prime Minister, Winston Churchill (past Academy Award nominee Oldman), who must make the ultimate choice: negotiate with Hitler at a terrible cost, or rally the nation and fight on against incredible odds. Darkest Hour is the anthemic story of 1940, when Churchill’s courage to lead a nation changed the course of history.
